Privacy Policy

Taily · Last updated 2 August 2026

Taily does not collect your data. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server behind this app. Everything you record about your pet stays on your device, and we have no way to see it.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Taily application for iPhone, distributed through Apple's App Store. It is the policy referenced from that app's App Store listing.

Who is responsible for this app

Taily is made and published by Bogdan Szarka, an individual developer based in Romania. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation this is the data controller for the app, and can be reached at office.tailyapp@gmail.com.

What we collect

Nothing. Taily has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no crash reporting service. The app makes no network request to us, because we do not operate a server for it to talk to.

It also contains no third-party software development kits at all. Everything in the app is either written by us or part of iOS itself.

What you store, and where it lives

The information you enter, meaning your pets, their health records, weights, documents, photos, reminders and expenses, is written to storage on your own device.

It is also kept in sync with your own iCloud account, so it survives a lost or replaced phone. That copy lives in your private iCloud storage, never on a server of ours. See iCloud sync below.

iCloud sync

Taily keeps your records in sync with your own iCloud account, through Apple's CloudKit private database. It is on by default, because losing a pet's history to a broken phone is the worst thing this app could do to you.

What that means exactly:

Device backups

Backup and sync are different things. The sync above keeps your devices in step; a backup is a separate copy Apple takes of the whole phone.

If you have iCloud Backup switched on, Apple includes app data in your device backup, as it does for other apps. That backup is between you and Apple, covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to it.

The backup that is entirely yours is the file you export from Settings. It is free, always available, and it goes wherever you choose to put it.

Camera and photos

Only the images you specifically pick or capture are used, and they are stored on your device with the rest of your records. Taily does not browse your library, and does not send images anywhere.

Taily asks for camera access so you can scan documents, and for photo library access so you can choose pictures. Both are requested only when you first use the feature that needs them, and both can be withdrawn at any time.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally, by iOS, on your own device. They are not push notifications, so nothing about your pet's care is sent through a server in order to deliver them.

Purchases

If you buy Taily Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your name, card details or billing address. The store tells the app only whether a purchase is active.

Third parties

Taily has no analytics provider, no advertising network and no crash reporting service. No company receives your records from us, because we do not have them to give.

The only companies involved at all are: Apple, which operates the App Store, the iCloud sync described above, and the iCloud backup you may have switched on; and whichever service you choose when you tap Share to send a document or a vaccination card somewhere. In each case the data is handled under those companies' own privacy policies, and in the last case it goes only where you personally send it.

Children

Taily is a record-keeping tool for pet owners and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

How long data is kept, and how to delete it

We keep nothing, so there is nothing on our side with a retention period. Your records stay on your device for exactly as long as you want them:

To remove the synced copy as well, open iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Taily and turn it off, which stops the sync, then use Manage Storage in the same place to delete what is already stored, including anything held in iCloud Backup.

Withdrawing permission

Camera access, photo library access and notifications can each be turned off at any time in iOS Settings → Taily. iCloud sync is switched off separately, in Settings → your name → iCloud → Taily. The app keeps working without any of them; it simply cannot scan documents, or send reminders, or keep your devices in step, until they are granted again.

How your information is protected

Your records are written to Taily's own storage area on the device, which iOS keeps separate from other apps and protects with the device's encryption. The synced copy sits in your private iCloud, under Apple's protection. There is no server of ours that could be broken into, because we do not run one.

The part that is yours is the device itself: a passcode or Face ID is what stops someone who picks up your phone from reading what is in it.

International transfers

None are made by us. Nothing about you or your pets is sent to us, so there is no personal data for us to transfer anywhere.

Your synced copy is stored by Apple, which operates data centres in several countries and handles the transfer under Apple's Privacy Policy. When you tap Share to send a document somewhere, it goes to the service you personally chose, under that service's own terms.

Selling and sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or any other purpose. We have never done so. There is no advertising identifier, no data broker, and no cross-app tracking in Taily, and the app asks for no tracking permission because it has nothing to track. For readers in California: because nothing is collected, sold or shared, there is nothing to opt out of, and Global Privacy Control signals have no data to act on.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the CCPA and similar laws you have rights to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. In Taily those rights are satisfied by the app itself rather than by a request to us: the data is on your device, you can read it, change it, export it in full and destroy it at any moment, without asking anyone. We could not produce a copy of your records if you asked, because we do not have one.

If you believe your data has been mishandled you may complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes

If a future version of Taily changes how information is handled, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date above will change. Should anything ever start travelling somewhere new, it will be named here first.
